At the time, the caregivers of children with cerebral palsy lacked access to specialized health, education, and cerebral palsy management services, and few had experience in managing the condition. Today, CPSK is a registered charitable organization under the amended (PBO) Act 2013, which includes the Societies Act of 1968 and falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Devolution and Planning in the Kenyan Government. CPSK’s membership has grown to include over 1000 families, the society is a member of the National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD).
